Escape
Escape an "escape the room" games I created with a group of my peers as part of my university course.
We decided that we wanted to create a game that would challenge both us and the players. To do this we chose to concentrate on a game type that required the user to solve puzzles and this lead us to creating an "escape the room" style game. However, we included a twist, in order to solve some of the puzzles the player would need a team mate to help them by searching a police database mock-up website that included documents that added to our games lore. The website user could uncover safe code and other information to help the player escape the room.
What was the plan?
My role
I was Technical Lead for the project, with this role I took on the majority of the programming and managed the creation and adaptation of the games assets and level design. As part of my role I had to scope out relevant software and hardware for the final product to find a format that enabled fluid, free creation without jeopardising integrity. I believe that I performed to the best of my ability in this role and this is reflected in the final work produced for the project.
